The Real Reason You Can’t Keep the Weight Off (and What to Do Instead)
3 Key Takeaways
The Power of Deductive vs. Inductive Medicine
Importance of Organized, Systematic Health Protocols
Coaching and Relationship are Key for Health Transformation
[00:00:00] Hi, everyone. Welcome to Tiger Medical's the future personalized medicine summit. And we have Vince Pitstick here who is an expert in functional health and wellness, functional nutrition, among many other things with over 19 years of dedication to health and wellness. Vince stands out. And As a testament to the power of evolution in the realm of functional medicine and nutrition health.
[00:00:38] His journey, originating from humble beginnings as a child, struck with a rare illness at eight years old, fighting for 20 years to find freedom, became a personal trainer, nutrition coach, which blossomed into a role as a pioneer. And lifestyle and nutrition coaching, creating a new field of practitioner called functional health coach in 2010 in 2012, Vince channeled his passion and extensive knowledge into founding vital coaching.
[00:01:10] Known at the time as Nutrition Dynamic, this venture was more than a business, it was a mission to offer a new form of concierge functional medicine delivered by a coach. From its inception, Vital Coaching was not just a company, but a beacon for those seeking a path to better health. Over the last decade, Vince has emerged himself in practices and sciences of functional health.
[00:01:33] His relentless pursuit of knowledge and skill refinement led to the creation of the transformative 4S. Process for F process, a comprehensive care plan for health and wellness, which is taught to medical practitioners and coaches all over the world at his university called Metabolic Mentor U. Today, his original Concierge Medicine Coaching Program Vital Coaching stands as the largest one on one health coaching.
[00:02:02] Concept in the United States, its mission and the mission of its health network is to fight the global health pandemic one client at a time. This is not just a statement, but it's reality being actualized daily. The 4F system is now offered in over 2000 programs worldwide, reaching millions each year.
[00:02:23] Vince, that's impressive. Welcome to the event. Thank you so much. Yes, I sometimes it always feels a little weird like listening to it. It's nice out of website It's always a little strange when people say it out loud. But yeah, the culmination of just Sheer will and belief that like there needed to be a new model that I believe coaching is functional meaning that like someone holding your hand walking you through the transitions is what makes functional it's strongest, just like the nurse did in western medicine, coaching for functional medicine is paramount and I'm proving it every day because the results between just a practitioner seeing somebody every three months and someone walking with you, communicating with you week over week, helping you make those adjustments and continue to adjust the process has created exponential outcomes that have improved.
[00:03:14] Thank you. That's what's gotten me my notoriety. Yeah. Yeah, no, I agree that, and Tiger Medical has got two very high level doctors who are functional practitioners with classical medical education and integrative training and and we have these eight health habits and what I always have to do is remind myself to go back to my own journey and the novice that I was seven years ago.
[00:03:39] When I wanted to, reinvent the health narrative that I would have, because my family history is horrendous from a health standpoint, and you're right, it takes somebody guiding them because there's so many things, there's sleep there's stress management, there's fasting, there's how do I eat and feed my body?
[00:03:57] How do I move my body? And it's too much. And so most people will quit. Minus a coach. Let's talk about real quick, maybe a minute or two, unpack your personal story of childhood and what you overcame. And then I want to get into your four F process. Yeah. I grew up on a farm. I didn't, I was born at a time where I didn't, I would leave the house, even at six years old, wouldn't come back in until it was dark.
[00:04:21] Yep. I lived in the corn fields. And it just so happens we know more today about the environmental pollutants that some of those ingredients can be and I found myself starting to get massively intrusive. This is why I want people to recognize that a lot of times we run right to the psychologist or to mood altering medications when we start having intrusive thoughts, anxiety and I would really caution people that's probably not where the that's a symptom, not the root.
[00:04:52] Because for me, it was chemical exposure and emotional trauma and family. dynamics in the home, getting all these mental and emotional issues they thought were behavioral and then they realized, Oh, maybe it's not, maybe it's a diagnosis, but then didn't understand the other physical issues that were going on with me.
[00:05:09] Because we kept thinking it was like mental, while it does turn mental, when you've been sick a long time, you, the patterns, behaviors, the beliefs, like all the fear mechanisms that build inside of you that now become survival mechanisms. That you've got to work through that. So there's definitely the multiple, the mental condition, but I want people to understand that most disease begins mental, emotional.
[00:05:33] It really does. And then you end up creating worse lifestyle habits because of it that then really brings on the physical. It's there are many times that it doesn't work that way. And you can get physical issues. But when you look at the rates of anxiety, mood disorders, the amount of medications, all the stuff you've been getting to realize a little bit about, some of the first places you're going to see it is in your thoughts and nobody can disagree that if you go working out as an antidepressant when you clean up your diet, one of the first things you're going to see is the difference in your mood. Yeah, your nervous system is telling you something is wrong, and it will show up in your mind.
[00:06:05] And wouldn't you agree Vince that when those things are going on when you're stressed and you're anxious. When you're anxious and depressed and all of that, that leads to stress, which activates the sympathetic side of the autonomic nervous system. And we all know when that's chronically activated, that leads to disease 100%.
[00:06:25] So we try to approach it both ways. We have group community classes that works on nervous system mindset. Okay. The coaches do with that too, but then a lot of our programming, like the actual four F process, the four, the first F is the flush. It's all resetting the nervous system. Opening lymphatics and liver and stimulating the endocrine system, we start with those systems.
[00:06:46] And when we do that, 50 percent of anxiety goes away within 15 to 20 days. And then more as we keep healing the body, more and more goes away. And then whatever's left over is your emotional challenges that you and the different, whether there's some genetics we can work on or a couple other things.
[00:07:01] And, so almost, we have 1000 people almost at any one time in our program. No one's on an anxiety med when they leave. Yeah. So you have to wonder where anxiety actually comes from. Yeah. Do you find, do you guys work on gut health also? Oh yeah, that's phase two. F2s gut. We prep it, we flush, we open the lymphatics, we do all that.
[00:07:20] I know a lot of people start with gut. I, and it can be effective. So no disrespect to any practitioner that does. But our methodology is we want to flush the wound before we go in heavy. And then we go in heavy on the gut. And really, when we say gut, we really mean the immune system. Because 80 percent of the immune system is in the gut, which then goes to every system of your body.
[00:07:42] So people go I've got shoulder pain. Why would I work on my gut? Or I've got anxiety. Why would I work on my gut? Or I have infertility. Why would I work on my gut? microbiome are so important. But it's interacting with your immune system. Which is in every system of your body. So by working gut, you're working everything right, and you're bringing information down and everything. What we found here is same thing. When we go to work right away on the nervous system side. Yeah. Between that and the gut. Most mental health disorders disappear. Man, incredible. I'm so glad to hear you say that. I really do. So your first F is to flush.
[00:08:23] The second F is to go to work on the gut. What's the third F? And just to give people validation I don't know all his methods. He doesn't know mine. Here you've got two people that have gone to totally two separate roads of And when you acquire enough truth You begin to realize there's an operation, an organization to the body, like a one, two, three, you start to begin to realize that there's a, you have to have a methodical process, right?
[00:08:49] The reason the 4F process has become so transformational is it's not as much about the knowledge, although there's protocols that are really important. It's about the organization of how you actually approach complex systems. The body is a complex system. And just like the lawn out and you're like, if you could buy a new house and your neighbor's got an amazing lawn and you have this crappy lawn, you could go get the best seed in the world.
[00:09:12] But if you don't put it, if you don't irrigate first, if you don't maybe use other support or miracle grow to make it grow, if you don't use it in the right time of the year, you don't water it appropriately, you end up with the same crappy lawn. So the organization of how you use things, you may have got the right vitamin D.
[00:09:29] You may have got like the the right activity. You may have the right probiotic, but if you're not doing it in a system that creates alignment and you're not good, it's then the ecosystem doesn't ever achieve stasis again. So that's why. And so in our third F, so I want people to think about trans I want people to think they're traveling through the body.
[00:09:53] So we'll take you on a journey real quick, short. No worries. I want people to think of it is this is that first thing that we're all diseases metabolic. So what that means is that your ability to produce and then break down and then get rid of. And that could be anything from an emotion. Okay, to a toxin.
[00:10:15] to calories, to glucose, to hormones, right? Exposure to anything like mold or anything. It's all metabolic. And so what we want to do is upregulate your capacity for speed of metabolism. If I get things to process through your body faster, and there's no friction points where things start to build up, that's why you see glucose begin to rise.
[00:10:42] That's why you see other things if you start checking for heavy metals, it can start to rise. That's why you can check for mold. You can might start seeing okra toxins start to build possibly from the dietary nutrition, whatever it is. If I open up all the kinks and freely let the body do what it was designed to do, almost everything goes away and I don't have to get too myopic.
[00:11:03] I don't have to chase just the high blood pressure. It'll go away on its own if I work the process. And then if there's still something left with the kidneys, I can focus just on the kidney with our medical team and all that other stuff. But the reason I'm explaining that is, what we do is like, when you dive into the body, for us, the first thing we want to do is open it up, right?
[00:11:21] Lymphatics, and then we want to, cellular metabolism, we want to stimulate it, and the strongest system that stimulates metabolism is the endocrine system. Okay? Thyroid, adrenal, ovaries or testes. So we give a couple agents to stimulate adrenal and thyroid function, depending on how you're doing it.
[00:11:40] So now every little cell is moving a little bit faster. It's moving a little bit quicker, right? Because every cell interacts with T3 from the thyroid. We're pushing through, we're opening lymphatics, and then we're opening up the liver, and the gallbladder, and we're doing a light flush on the GI tract.
[00:11:58] Kind of just getting everything out, opening it up, getting people to feel good. Then phase two, we go heavy into the microbiome. We start working some things to calm immune function and the nervous system in the first phase with the lymphatic together. Then you're continuing to work nervous system, and then you're opening up the gut, focusing on both the immune system and the microbiome.
[00:12:17] There's separate things we work together in the gut. Then we transfer from the gut, where would food go next? It would go into the blood vessel. And then from the blood vessel, it's got to get into the cell. So now you're working on things like certain hormones, leptin, ghrelin, insulin, and you're working on cellular inflammation.
[00:12:39] So to reset these things, this is where you start working things like fast feasting. You start working on getting blood sugars down, insulin sensitivity, right? So we start working all of that stuff. And then when we get it really primed. Glucose levels are coming down. We start adding more fasting to get rid of bad cells or to get improved mitochondria and then we move into the mitochondria in that third phase, and we're working mitochondria cellular health longevity.
[00:13:09] And then for our final trick, then we have to feed you up and optimize your sex hormones and your other hormones that has body composition, emotional health, being that help create real strong stasis to the body. And that's the 4F process we teach at the university and we use at my healing centers.
[00:13:26] I've got multiple coaching centers and then the medical centers that we have. And that's the methodology. 4. You do it in that order. You could close your eyes, not even really have to look at labs. We did this. We took 7, 000 people, put them through the 4f process, not use the lab. 88 percent success rate on almost all conditions, right?
[00:13:46] Just lifestyle change. Yes. Without having to get too myopic. Now we love using labs. The efficiency goes up with more information because we can be more tailored. So now that we do what we do now, like for example, in one of our programs, we have a 92 to 95 percent success rate on outcome and weight loss and all the things that they want.
[00:14:05] And so those numbers you do not hear about in, in Western medicine, like you're, maybe you've got a 60 to 80 percent chance of getting an outcome, but then you typically have anywhere from a 40 to 70 percent chance of relapse. Vince the traditional medicine is episodic. You go, you get diagnosed, you get prescribed.
[00:14:25] What you're talking about, cause it's similar to what we do in a sense. And that is you, someone is gotta think about their health rather than an episode going and visiting the doctor. They're entering into an organized process, and if they trust the process, it works every single time because I tell people you're not going to believe this, but we have 100 percent success rate when people show up.
[00:14:53] Yeah, I said, that's the key phrase, though. You got to show up because if you do, it will work just like a plane every time it gets sufficient thrust down a runway. Aerodynamics kick in, it lifts the wing off the ground, plane takes off, it's the same concept. So what's interesting about that, the reason that the western medical system is destined to fail, has nothing to do with the doctors, has nothing to do with the meds, has nothing to do with any of these things, it is how they problem solve.
[00:15:23] So there is a book. If you can bore it, if you can get through it, it's got great information, but it's boring now. It's called the problem with induction. Okay. And medical western medicine tries to solve the problem of the body through inductive reasoning. Let me give you an example. Someone comes in, they say they don't feel well.
[00:15:46] And so the doctor looks and says, okay, you have high blood pressure. Okay. And so we're going to give you a diagnosis of high blood pressure. That's probably why you don't feel well. And then we're going to give you lisinopril. Okay. So what is inductive reasoning? It is creating a theory and applying that, that, that theory and then waiting to see if it's true.
[00:16:08] Okay. So then what happens is they wait three months. Oh, my blood pressure's down, but then I have this issue and I have this issue and I have this. So you people are trained because of the Western medical system to do inductive thinking when it comes to their body. Like what one thing can I take for the symptom that I have.
[00:16:27] That's inductive thought process. You don't have to solve problems inductively. In life. It's a fundamental flaw. Now, for acute, Steve, this is where it gets different. If you are in the emergency room, and you have a very short period of time, you do have to switch to inductive reasoning. If someone comes in and they're dying, and there's a bullet wound, I'm gonna assume it's the bullet wound, get the bullet out.
[00:16:55] Don't come to me for a gunshot wound. However, when we try to solve a complex system, we have to take a deductive approach, which is creating a theory of certain variables, take applying all variables in a system and working towards the solution to test the theory. So like in this case, if the person comes in and says, I don't feel well, we identify high blood pressure.
[00:17:22] What are we going to do? We're going to go, what are all the roots to why people aren't feeling well? We're going to look at your nutrient intake. We're going to look at your stress levels. We're going to look at what supplements you're taking. What is your lifestyle like, or are you active, right?
[00:17:37] Maybe if you're a little forward thinking, we're going to look at your genetics. We'll look at other things that can make you feel bad in your blood work. And then we're going to put, we're going to put all those variables together and we're going to test them together in a process. So multiple variables work together in a process moving forward.
[00:17:54] That is deductive. Yeah, reasoning. That's exactly you doing what I do. Yeah, that's so Steve. That is the one difference. If people really wanted to know the difference, they may not understand those terms, which is the problem. But the reason we solve problems is because of how we reason. And if you've never been taught to think that way, then you have to be coached to think that way.
[00:18:19] And that's why people have a hard time when they go, Hey, I don't want to take this med. But then I go over here and you're hitting me with all these things and if I feel overwhelmed and I don't want to do it because they don't understand, right? They want something different, but they don't know what that means.
[00:18:36] Yeah, Vince, that's the best explanation I've ever heard about why somebody should engage in proactive lifestyle medicine versus. Traditional. Yeah. Thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah. Oh, no, I've been doing this seven years. I've, that's the best because I, 'cause the reason I say that is I think, 'cause I've spoke to over a thousand people myself Sure.
[00:18:56] In the process of bringing them in. And they need to understand why they're doing medicine this way and when they don't, that's when they're not. They don't have the success because they're just not following it because they've been conditioned in the inductive method. Yes, that's why we have to bring them the light and that's almost through information and relationship, right?
[00:19:18] Because I can hear all kinds of information. If I don't have a relationship with you, I've got no reason to care or trust it or apply it. This is why I come back to you. Heart centered practitioner work. We're understanding that what we're really doing is relationship building. So that then when I explained to you, why you're willing to try it, even if you don't fully understand it, because it's one of those things that you don't understand fully until you do it.
[00:19:43] It would be like trying to understand spirituality without trying it. Yeah. Like judging it from the outside like this looks a little bit like weird. Yeah, I get that. Try it. You might come up with a different answer, but you got to willing to have trust and again, affinity and relationship.
[00:19:58] And that's why I believe if doctors were willing to let coaches take the front lines and then they just support them because doctors can't make all these relationships, they can only be so many places at one time. That's why I believe the future, the only way we're going to reach every American in the world and every person in the world.
[00:20:16] Is through the computer through the phone right through a relationship that's not automated like AI right and building that relationship. And that's why anyone anywhere in the world. I can grab ahold of them. I can change their life. And I've got an amazing medical team that is willing to treat me like an equal because I am not a licensed practitioner, although I do train them, but they're willing to work with me because sometimes we do need a medication or a peptide or a hormone.
[00:20:44] And I'll bring it to them and say, Hey, let's get them in as a patient now because I've been working with them to get on board. And here's the things that I'm seeing. Here's my recommendation, but you have to make final decision and you're the ones that are prescribing. Ultimately, that's your world, but I'm working with them every day.
[00:20:59] So if I'm educated enough, which is why we teach the coaches to be mini practitioners, I should be able to tell you what's going on in the front lines so that better what to do. And then I'm watching them, making sure they take it, making sure they're doing everything they're supposed to be doing.
[00:21:14] And then eventually when it's time to walk them off, send them back in there. And that's, but doctors have to be humble. They have to be willing to be like, you know what? And they don't want to take all the customer service questions. They don't want to deal with all that stuff. So it's I'm going to be a doctor.
[00:21:27] You can, yeah. So anyways, that's the, that's what I'm fighting for. That's what vital coaching is. It is concierge medicine, primarily delivered by a coach. It's the future that I'm fighting for. We all have to come together to fight for this because if the people that are capable, don't. Then the masses are never going to understand what different means and how to find it and then be guided to liberation, I like to go back to Plato's Republic, the allegory in the cave, if you're familiar what I'm talking about how people have to be brought to light.
[00:21:57] And they have to be guided. They have to be, they have to be hand held. Yep. Yeah. So how do people find you, Vince? They can check me out if they're interested in more just learning about functional medicine and also weight loss. And we love to do both. We like to tease people with.
[00:22:12] They can look absolutely ripped and feel absolutely amazing. So we look a little fitnessy, but we're hardcore, 80 percent of us is functional medicine. But so we blended them because people more likely to get, do what you want them to do. If they can get what they want and then they'll do the healthy thing.
[00:22:28] It's Oh yeah, I'll get rid of my diabetes if it gives me a six pack. Sure. Let's do that. Okay, crazy. I know they can check out. I do a lot of education, metabolic mentor, YouTube. I also have my Instagram, which is Vince underscore pit stick that is pit and stick like an Australian deodorant.
[00:22:44] You can't mess that up. And then we also have, you can go to my university, Metabolic Mentor University. We have amazing advisors. We've got courses that people can learn how to take care, master their own health, or they can go learn how to master other people's health. And we need to, we're, our mission is one in 100.
[00:23:02] We want to make one coach or functional practitioner for every a hundred people. In the United States, just like there are nurses in the United States and really try to make a movement. And that's what we're working on. Vince, man, thank you for joining our summit. Super valuable information and all of that information he just shared will be in the show notes for everyone.
[00:23:25] And Vince, thanks you for peering. Can I leave them with one message when they watch this? Absolutely. Go for it. It is, I know many of you are probably afraid to take the next step in your career. You're probably afraid to risk financially. You're probably afraid. And I would just ask you that. I would say as a calling, Jesus was a healer.
[00:23:42] And I would just say to everybody, I hope you are being called to tend your flock, that it is your responsibility and your duty to get out there, spread seed and multiply, and that use that as your strength, because we need you. It's not a matter of your comfortability. We need you on the front lines.
[00:23:59] There's not enough of us. I don't need all the money for me. We need everybody doing their part because it's not going to come from the top down. It's not going to come from the brass. The government's not going to bail us out. This is going to come from individuals, helping individuals, collaborating together, creating our own society and communities that they can bring people in and change lives.
[00:24:19] So to every little hidden hero out there, I'm calling you out. We need you on the front lines. You feel it, you know it. Stop being afraid. Take that massive action step. Step in, find your flock and tend them. And I'm not going to say anything more. That was a great closing message. Thank you.
