Can You Lose Your Sex Drive?

“I admit, I have a tremendous sex drive. My boyfriend lives forty miles away.” ~ Phyllis Diller

What Is Libido?

Low libido or low sex drive is simply a low interest in sexual activity.

This is something familiar to most people from time to time, and all levels of libido vary throughout a person’s lifetime.

It’s also important to note that your partner’s interest and your interest may not always be aligned.

Though it is a common part of life, low sex drive over an extended period could indicate an underlying health condition.

Below Are a Few Potential Causes for Low Sex Drive

1. Chronic Stress

If you’ve been on the go recently with seemingly no time to spare, a low sex drive is probably soon to follow.

Under chronic stress, your hormones (like testosterone) can get all out of whack, causing several challenges, including low sex drive.

If you’re feeling stressed, try a few stress management practices such as deep breathing, yoga, light exercise, or taking time away.

2. Too Little or Too Much Exercise

Too little exercise is associated with chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure. All of these are regularly linked to low sex drive.

However, too much intense exercise can also cause a decrease in sex drive.

Finding the sweet spot of working out regularly at a pace and intensity that suits your health profile can potentially restore a low sex drive.

3. Poor Sleep

Getting enough sleep consistently provides many benefits – increased sex drive is one of them.

Research suggests that healthy, young men who are limited to 5 hours of sleep per night or less commonly experience a decrease in sex drive. This decrease can be as substantial as 10-15% in some individuals.

If you’re struggling with a low sex drive or health concerns, it’s always a great idea to consider starting with your sleep.

A Word From Our Founder, Steve Adams

Hey there! I'm Steve

I spent 20 years in high-pressure corporate banking, constantly traveling and neglecting my health. By 50, I was sleep-deprived, getting only 2-3 hours of sleep despite lying in bed for six hours. I suffered from acid reflux, IBS, cramping, constipation, anxiety, fatigue, and brain fog, affecting my performance and relationships.

Then I found a Functional Medicine Doctor

He conducted extensive testing on genetics, gut biome health, and hormones. He discovered several issues and created a personalized medical plan and coached me for a year on lifestyle changes. The results were transformative!

Today, I feel like a new person. I can engage in high-intensity interval training, weight lifting, and running without any symptoms. Inspired by this journey, I founded Tiger Medical Institute to help others achieve similar health transformations - to help you live healthier, better life!
