[00:00:00] Welcome back. We're continuing our interviews or the summit the future of personalized medicine. And I'm really excited to have Hope Pedraza on with us. She's a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner, certified holistic nutritionist, a recce practitioner, a human design guide, an NLP practitioner.
And a hypnotherapist, as well as the founder of InBalance. Hope is the founder of InBalance, a Pilates based fitness franchise, and the host of the Hopeful and Wholesome podcast. She helps high performing women and entrepreneurs leverage their holistic wellbeing. As their number one asset, optimizing their energy wellness with functional labs, [00:01:00] human design, subconscious programming, and energetic so that they can thrive and create more impact in their life.
Wow. That's super interesting. Hope. Welcome to the summit. Thank you. Thanks so much, Steve. Thanks for having me. Yeah. You're not going to hypnotize me as I am. No, no hypnotherapy today. I love it. Hope talk about that's a really cool combination of skills that you have in training. This isn't just.
You're not just hanging up a shingle. You've done real work to get here. Tell us about your life family all that People understand who we're talking to today. Yeah. Thank you. Thanks so much for that question. So my Background, I guess how I got into this My background was in dance and that's what got me into Pilates which got me into my brick and mortar business Which is a Pilates studio And so when I opened up Pilates studio, I wanted to create this really comprehensive space, like this holistic space where everybody could get everything they wanted in one spot.
So nutrition and mindfulness and movement and all the things. And we had the movement and the Pilates down cause [00:02:00] I've been teaching that for forever. And so I started adding the nutrition pieces and I started out as just a nutrition coach, just basic nutrition, coaching, just give people some support accountability.
And then when working with women, I was working with mostly women at the time, I was noticing that these things going on in their body. Were really required deeper conversations than just talking about calories and macros and so that really got me into the realm of functional Medicine and going working as a functional practitioner to really get to the root cause of why these things are happening You know, there's hormonal things and gut things and a lot of them had you know Potentially some autoimmune things going on.
So I wanted to be able to really get to the root cause. And so from there, when I started working with people in a functional perspective, I was also going through my own personal journey at the time. And. Working with Reiki and human design and recognize that, yes, there are physical things happening on the body, but these physical things actually have this energetic emotional root cause.
And so that's what brought me into the realm of clinical hypnotherapy [00:03:00] and getting certified as a Reiki practitioner, NLP, and all these subconscious modalities and spiritual modalities to be able to tie into the physical pieces. And because if somebody has a lot of head trash Everything else you're doing it's going to work against them, right?
It's going to work against their habit change. Exactly. That's it. Exactly Yeah. Wow. Talk about, I think is your practice limited to your franchise locations or do you work virtually with people across the U. S.? Yeah. Good question. I actually have them separated. I have an online practice that's virtual.
Virtuals. I have clients from all over the world. And then I do have my brick and mortar business where yes, we can work with people in person, but really I love the virtual world. Because I get to work with people from all over the world. I've had clients in Europe and Canada and Mexico. And so it's great to have that freedom.
Yeah. Okay, so given that and the fact that this is a virtual summit, maybe we'll go the virtual direction. What is the core thing that you deliver to your virtual clients? Is it an, [00:04:00] is it the, we're going to talk about the secret toolkit for successful high performers. Is it that, or do they come in and do pieces at a time?
Yeah, that's a good question. I think if we really want to, get the holistic results we're looking for. It's putting all the pieces together, but where it starts, where I think a lot of people miss. I've done a lot of pieces and I have a lot. I've worked with so many people who have worked with other practitioners who've worked with other, even conventional, gone the conventional medical route.
And the missing piece is the mineral piece. And that's the part that I love. And for the physical aspect, the part I love the most, I've done. Hours and hours of certifications and training and advanced mineral analysis. And this is the piece I feel like so many people miss. We overlook it. We see it as not as important.
I have mostly women who come to me and they're like, just fix my hormones, which is fine. Like I would love to help you fix your hormones. But if we want to get to that foundational piece of what's happening in your body, we have to start with the minerals. You've probably heard this before.
And the listeners have probably heard this before, but the [00:05:00] minerals are. Consider the spark plugs in the body, meaning that every reaction, the body requires minerals, but either the catalyst or the co factor they're involved somehow. So if we really want to look at a foundational level, we have to start with the minerals.
Okay. And is when you say minerals, you're not talking about toxin removal of heavy metals. You're more looking at mineral balance testing for it and then addressing it. Yeah, it's both. But yes, mineral balance. So I use the hair tissue and mineral analysis of the HTMA and it does measure for heavy metal.
So that is something that it looks at. But the real focal point is yes, the actual mineral balance and looking at the mineral levels, the relationships between the minerals, how they're interacting the body. Okay, so I'm almost 61. I'm an old guy in this space now, but it's making me very energetic for an old guy.
Yeah. Which I love. I've got all these decades on my body. What are you typically going to find and how is that going to help Steve lead his three companies better? Yeah, that's a good [00:06:00] question. So there's a couple dozen different minerals that the HTMA measures and the. The first part I'm going to look at will be your macro minerals.
So that'll be the four main minerals that we use the most of and we lose the most of, and we need the most of, and that would be calcium, sodium, magnesium, and potassium. So that's going to be the first part. And I would say 99. 99 percent of the time, all of those are out of whack for people. And those are the ones that we really have to prioritize.
And what do they feel when they're out of whack and what can they feel when they're back in whack? Yeah, so the energy piece I think is the most common. Whether it's you know, I went to bed, but I don't wake up feeling rested or I have these energy crashes throughout the day Or I'm just completely feel like I'm dragging myself through the day.
So the energy piece is huge a lot of times too, it's your mood so Potassium has a really big impact on your mood feeling like irritability that can be a sign there that there's some mineral bounces feeling sluggish brain [00:07:00] fog, even potentially, you could have joint pain or muscle pain or bone pain, just especially if there's a lack of magnesium.
It's that relaxing mineral, right? And you can feel maybe pain, inflammation in the body. It could be digestive issues. It could be headaches. It could be migraines, could be swelling. So there's a lot of symptoms that you could find. I would say most of the like. Quote, common symptoms that people feel on a regular basis.
All of those are mineral balances or imbalances are contributing to that contributing that right. And then obviously the payoff is if you reverse those, the opposite is you feel good. You're not and when you can show up as the best version of yourself, you're more productive. That's it. It's exactly it.
Yeah. Once you've done that work it looks like you do some design work, like the number two in your secret toolkit is human design, unpacking human design. What is that all about? Yes. So this is the energetic spiritual piece that I love to incorporate. And I have. And I have some [00:08:00] people who are, this is like all brand new stuff to them.
And I have super, we're like, I'm curious, I'll check it out. And really we're talking about high performers. I think the general consensus is I'm willing to try pretty much anything. Like I'm open minded. I'm willing to try things that are going to help me with my energy and, optimize productivity and all those things.
So human design is based on some ancient teachings like the chakra system, which people are probably familiar with the word chakras, the chakra system, the astrology, the Kabbalah tree of life. And it puts together with more modern day sciences like quantum mechanics and quantum physics and neuroscience.
And it puts it together in this chart. And it's essentially your energetic blueprint. So it's how your energy is designed to move through the body, how it's designed to interact with other people, with the environment around you. And so that alone is a huge, Productivity hack for high performers, because you can really understand at a cellular level how I'm designed to operate in my business and my family and my relationships with other people with my team and communicate, make decisions, all of those things.[00:09:00]
You're working with yourself rather than against yourself. Exactly. Exactly. So if someone is more, when I hate to use the word religious, they're Catholic or they're Christian, when I say a Protestant, Christian, Muslim, Hindu do you help them be comfortable with, quote, spiritual?
Are they okay with that? You're able to cross those barriers? Cause there's a big chunk of the population that ascribe to those. That's very true. Yeah, it's very true. Really, to me, this has nothing to do, There's a whole rabbit hole. We could go down with that. Yes. Yes, exactly. Exactly.
Yes. So there's a difference between religion and spirituality, right? So we're just talking about this spiritual part of you as in, we have these, we are complex beings, right? We have a physical, a mental, emotional, and a spiritual piece. So if we can just separate those pieces, that spiritual piece is the one we want to look at.
So it really has nothing to do with religion. You could, tie in whatever higher power you believe to be a human sign. And that's the, It's how that higher power designed you, but it's [00:10:00] really just talking about you as a spiritual being and not so much, connected to the religious part.
I've heard it said a lot and I really buy into this. I'm Christian and I believe I'm a spiritual being having a physical experience. Totally. Yeah, same. But so many people discount that side and Does that help people ultimately embrace better stress management practices? Because they have to work with their energy.
Yeah, that's it. That's it. And I think, the Western world and conventional medicine has done such a good job at compartmentalizing the mind and the body and the spirit, like all these pieces where, just like you said, I think those of us who have a more progressive outlook on these things know that we are a physical body having this.
Spiritual experience. If we have these multilayered aspects to us. And so when we're able to tie all of those pieces together and tap into all those parts of us, yeah, that's when we can really optimize your energy and understand. I think the biggest thing really is understanding how it works.
Like I understand how all of this works, why I do [00:11:00] the things I do, why operate the way I do. And with that, then you can make empowered decisions on how you're operating in your life and in your business. And I don't know, did you just go into power synthesis right there or do you want to unpack that a little bit?
Because that's the third thing you work on in your your program. Yeah. So the third piece, so we would start with the functional labs, right? I talked about the mineral balancing. I actually do more than just one lab, but that's just, that's my favorite one I like to talk about. So we will look at the physical parts.
I would tie in the human design. And then the other part of that is the other modalities that, that we mentioned at the beginning. It's tying in these subconscious. The subconscious work. So once you understand it, and you alluded to this at the beginning. When, once you understand your energetic blueprint, like how my energy flows, now we can look at, ok, we have these things happening in the physical body.
I understand my energy works like this. Now I can start putting these pieces together and understanding, ok, the reason my adrenals are operating like this is because this energy in this part of [00:12:00] my body is doing this. We can start to put those pieces together, and then we can use the energetic work, or the subconscious work, to untangle that.
We, the patterns and the programming that's happening, the subconscious that's perpetuating those, that energy in the body that's causing the physical things to happen. We want to unwind and rewire that. So that's where those subconscious modalities come in. Wow. I believe in that. I went through EMR, emotional, mental relief went through a practitioner and it was huge.
I found one thing that happened in my life that was so defining. That it was influencing all my decisions. Isn't that crazy? Yeah, and I was able to I don't know, I it actually really impact how I ran my company's going. Yeah For sure. I believe it. Yeah great, we'll talk about I I don't know if I want to do that.
I want to do transformation tales last I think talk about The burnout busting blueprint. And then we'll come back to some, maybe some transformation tales and wrap it into like how people can work with you [00:13:00] and what it looks like. Yeah, for sure. So wait, you're asking about the, what did you just ask?
Oh, the idea of utilizing busting burnout. The burnout. Yes. Man, the burnout, I could talk a whole, like five hours just on the burnout. It's just, it's a big overused term too. It is. Yes, very much. And I think because it's so overused, we just like brush past it and Oh, everybody's burned out where it's yeah.
This is why we have so much chronic disease. It's, it is overused and it's overplayed, but the fact is so many, and I think the other thing too, is so many, especially. Especially women, I believe, are, so many are operating in burnout, but they don't know. It's like their bodies has adapted to such a high level.
This is just how they function now. But underneath the surface, their body's screaming for help, like my adrenals and my hormones and my, all these things. So the burnout and what I laid out before is really the steps I would take for the burnout. The mineral piece is huge.
And the mineral piece would be the first piece I would look at [00:14:00] the other two functional labs that I like to run. I run a GI map, which is really in depth gut, look at your gut. So it's a soul test. And the other one I do is the Dutch test, which is a really comprehensive look at your hormones. So putting all those pieces together.
We can, like I mentioned before, we can get that look at, okay, here's how burnout is affecting you on a physical level. And then we can look at your human design and the human design piece is probably one of the most crucial pieces because yes, I want to know what's happening in the physical body.
So we don't have to guess, we don't have to wonder what's going on, but once you understand your energy, I have worked with so many women who just that piece alone was how they untangled their burnout. Cause they had, like you said, they're working against their energy rather than missing. They're designed to work in short spurts.
They're not designed to work in All day, every day, right? They're designed to work in short spurts and take rest, or they're designed to have these kinds of creative phases where they have this creative phase for a few weeks, and then they need to rest for a week, right? So learning, and then also chronobiology is something that I talk about.
I did a podcast episode [00:15:00] about this, but understanding how your body's natural rhythms day in, day out, how that works. Totally. Yes. Because it's different for everybody. And with women, we talk about cycle syncing and how to work with your menstrual cycle and how to optimize how you're working in your business with your menstrual cycle.
Again, so we're not working, it's working smarter, not harder, especially for women, knowing that we have this 28 day cycle that affects our energy. All throughout the month and we're not designed to function the same as men with a different hormonal cycle, right? We just go constantly. That's it. Yeah.
I'm really glad to hear you include design work because a big part of burnout I interviewed somebody a couple years ago my podcast who wrote a big book about it PhD and A lot of burnout resolution is going to come from that inner design work and mindset work because it's not just stress and your reaction to it, but it's also looking at your environment and what am I actually doing with my life?
And because for me I use something called [00:16:00] neurofeedback and heart rate variability work. And what it did was it caused enough space to happen where I could calm down enough to start looking around and design work. Yes. Oh, wow. I'm in a toxic environment that, and my answer is exit. It's not too.
It's not to stay here because sometimes, everything, all of the symptoms of burnout are being caused by, you have a mismatch in your life design. That's exactly it. And if you do something about it, all of the recovery work in the world isn't going to get you fully out of it.
Absolutely. Absolutely. It, and that's really the power of that. Like you said the modalities that you've used before, it's all, there's so many. Sometimes just modalities that you can use, but that's really what's, we have to rewire the neural pathways in order to get out of those patterns.
It's that pattern interrupt that's required for us to get to the other side of that and start optimizing it, how our energy is flowing through the body. I want to validate what you're doing with the mineral work. Cause I, we have two very [00:17:00] high level physicians at Tiger Medical. That do analyze minerals as part of the overall testing.
I love that, as mine got all fixed and balanced and, I'm the kind of a person I do everything. The only thing I haven't done so far personally that has showed up on this summit has been psychedelics. I haven't done that yet. Yes, there you go. I think with that guy, I trust him. I'm probably going to give it.
It's funny. I've had him on my podcast, so I would totally trust him too. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good. Last thing then we'll go into you and how people can find you is talk about transformation tales. I don't, we don't have time for five, but maybe you have a story you could share. Yeah.
I would love to share. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. You too. It doesn't have to be. Yeah. I have had my own story. The one I always like to share. This was when I first started incorporating the energetic work that I do, and it was like the first moment where I'm like. Oh my gosh, this stuff works.
I had a client and she came to you with some different hormonal things going on [00:18:00] and she had stubborn weight and energy, but the biggest thing for her was her energy. And she was a business coach and has a really thriving business, but was like, I know I can do more, but my body's holding me back from doing more.
I can't work to the capacity. I know I'm capable of. We do the labs and everything. Of course, she has some mineral imbalances, has some gut thing, has some hormone things, the typical things. And so we're going into a session, we go into a session and I call them quantum healing session.
So we're incorporating all of these modalities that I talked about the hypnosis and the energy healing and all that. So walking through a process and I'm having her to identify like, where do we feel the resistance in the body? And so very specifically, she tells me she feels this sharp Stabbing in her left ovary.
I'd never had anyone be that specific. And she says, you should, it's identifying because I'm asking her to visualize it. She's it's like a nail and it's poking. And so she's going through this whole process. So we go through a release. She identifies it as Shane. That's the emotion that came up for her.
That was attached to this nail and her left ovary. We go through the process. She releases it. She has this huge emotional release. [00:19:00] Two days later, I get a text from her saying I'm in the hospital and I had a cyst rupture. The cyst was in her left ovary. She literally had this physical release after this emotional release.
I'm like, this is not a coincidence, my friend. And so she, and it was just after that, this cascade of events, she had these opportunities in her business that showed up out of nowhere. She's hosting retreats. She now she's pregnant to have a baby. Like it was all these things happening. It was just that huge release that her body needed to set in motion.
What was yeah. Wow, that's really cool. You're a high energy and this is so where's your franchise location? Where's your gym that you have come to not? Yeah, we are. Yeah. Studio. Yeah. Yeah. We're in right now. We're just in San Antonio, Texas. So we have a couple locations here in San Antonio.
Oh, that's what's the name of it. In balance, right? Yeah, I've seen Waco, Texas. Come down and see that. There you go. We're here. Very [00:20:00] cool. So how do people let's do that last. What's the process? Somebody wants to work with you virtually. What does that look like? Yeah. Yeah. So you can reach out to me via email.
You can send me a DM on Instagram. Reach out to me. We set up a call, talk through what your biggest concerns are. I give you my recommendations as far as testing and labs and all of that. And then from there, it's just depending on the level of support that you want to have some people who they don't want a lot of handholding or tell me what to do and I'll do it.
I have some people who they want the full shebang. Like I want you to tell me everything, hold my hand, walk me through all of it. So it just depends on the level of support you're looking for. Okay. All right. Good. Now I want to get specific. What's your website? How do people actually really find you your email whatever you want to put?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah So my website is hopeful and wholesome. com And my podcast is the same name So you can also if you want to learn more about me and what I do you can check out my podcast And then you can also email me hope at hopeful and wholesome. com and then my instagram handle is at the hope pedraza [00:21:00] on instagram.
You can find me there Yeah, and that'll all be in all the notes and everything for the event. So you won't have to go looking hard for it, but I just wanted to get it recorded. Yeah. Hope, one last thing. Is there anything you'd want to say to women that you work with? Yeah, I think my parting words would be for, for women and whoever is listening out there is just to always listen to your body.
I think that this is a big missing piece of why so many of us end up with chronic symptoms and. Perpetual chronic symptoms is we either tune out the signs and signals our body's sending us, or we push them aside I'll get to it later. But a lot of times we get to it later and now we have 25 things we have to address versus five things we could have addressed if we would have listened to it at the first sign.
So my advice is always for women and men too, but especially women, is listen to your body and really honor what it's telling you. Listen to it. So it's listening and actually doing something about it and heed what your [00:22:00] body is telling you. Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more if you've got some kind of persistent thing, isn't right.
The thing I've learned from being in this medicine branch of proactive precision personalized medicine, what are you going to call it? Is everything is interrelated, everything, literally everything. Yep. And and the longer you wait, the worse it is. It's harder for a functional physician to help you.
Yeah, thank you so much for being on the summit, Hope. Yes, thanks so much for having me, Steve.
